Store Policies

Studio 1484 offers vintage and collectible art, glass, pottery, objects and custom framing from our second-floor Toronto studio. Because much of our inventory is vintage or one-of-a-kind, the following policies help keep purchases, pickup and shipping straightforward.

Pricing

Listed prices are the final item prices shown by Studio 1484. Shipping or local delivery, where applicable, is quoted separately.

International buyers: Any customs duties, taxes, brokerage or import charges assessed at destination are the buyer’s responsibility.

Purchase Requests & Holds

Submitting a Purchase Request does not complete a sale or guarantee a hold until availability has been confirmed by Studio 1484.

Once confirmed, we can hold an item for a limited period while pickup, shipping and payment arrangements are completed. The hold period will be confirmed with you directly.

If you would simply like to view an item in person before deciding, a short viewing hold may also be requested through the Ask about this piece link on the product page.

Returns & Damages

Due to the one-of-a-kind and vintage nature of much of our collection, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges unless an item was materially misrepresented or arrives damaged.

If something arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and include clear photographs of the item, packaging and shipping label. We’ll review the circumstances and determine the appropriate next steps.

  • Shipments are tracked and may require a signature on delivery.
  • If damage appears to be the result of carrier handling, we’ll assist with the claims process.
  • Refunds, credits or return shipping in exceptional circumstances are handled case by case.
  • We reserve the right to deny claims where there is evidence of tampering or fraud.

Pick-up, Shipping & Local Delivery

Pick-up is available from our second-floor Toronto studio during store hours. We’ll confirm pickup arrangements after your Purchase Request has been accepted.

Shipping is available on select items by request. If shipping is required, we’ll discuss the destination with you, provide available options and costs, and send an invoice once arrangements are confirmed. Payment must be received in full before the item is shipped.

Framed items: We generally do not ship framed pieces containing glass because of the risk of breakage and limitations on carrier insurance. Local pickup or courier delivery may be available.

Local delivery: For select items, delivery within Toronto may be available. We’ll provide a quote and help determine the safest and most practical option. Payment must be received in full before delivery.

Framing Orders

Custom framing is arranged in person. Each order is built specifically for the artwork using materials and a timeline agreed upon with the customer. A deposit is typically required.

Because custom framing is made to order, framing orders are generally non-refundable once work has begun. If there is ever a problem with completed work, please contact us and we’ll work with you to resolve it.

Have Questions?

If you’re unsure about pickup, shipping, a hold, a purchase request or anything else, please contact us or visit the studio during open hours.
