This striking carved wood mask originates from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea, an area known for its highly stylized ritual and ancestral carvings. Likely produced between the 1950s and 1970s for either ceremonial use or early tribal export, the mask features bold symmetrical motifs, deeply grooved contours, and traditional plant fiber adornment tied through drilled channels.

Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, the mask has an elongated oval form and displays age-related cracking on the back. The front retains original pigment and strong visual impact. There are no visible markings or signatures.
